El Paso Independent School District
Website Redesign (2022) + Pre-K Campaign
CHALLENGE
The goal was to reflect the vibrant and fresh personality of the district through a redesigned website. We needed to work closely with Blackboard developers to ensure the information architecture supported both functionality and design. The site also had to meet accessibility standards (a11y), while presenting a unique color palette that was visually consistent and approved by stakeholders.
This project extended beyond the website itself. A Pre-K campaign was launched shortly after the redesign, requiring the creation of additional branded materials such as maps, billboards, and postal mailers.
APPROACH
We created a new layout and simplified the user interface by applying core UX laws and accessibility guidelines (WCAG). This included careful selection of accessible color contrasts, clear visual hierarchy, and reducing visual clutter to guide the user through key tasks. Our design choices focused on improving user flows and reducing cognitive load.
SOLUTION
New colors were carefully selected and applied to align with the district’s updated brand. The navigation was restructured to be more intuitive, allowing users to access essential information more easily. These changes enhanced clarity and made the site easier to use across all devices, especially for families looking to enroll their children.
IMPACT
The website received positive feedback from district staff, who felt the redesign better captured the energy of the community. Analytics showed that the user flow was not only preserved but improved, thanks to the application of UX principles.
We continued to monitor usage during key events like student registration and made iterative updates to reduce user friction and meet evolving needs. These efforts resulted in a more accessible, responsive, and user-focused platform that serves as the district’s digital front door.
